Frequently Asked Questions

  • Sunward Psychiatry is not a part of any insurance panel and does not process requests for insurance reimbursement. We are considered an “out of network” provider for PPO plans. We accept payments with HSA/FSA, debit cards, and credit cards.

    We can provide a “super bill” which you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. The insurance company may either pay the full amount of services minus your copay, or they may put this amount towards your deductible. Please check with your insurance policy.

    • Initial Evaluation: 90 mins

    • Medication management: 25 mins

    • Therapy with or without medication management: 50 mins

  • We currently see all clients virtually via a secure HIPAA-compliant platform.

  • We only consider stimulant medication prescriptions for ADHD after comprehensive assessment and extensive evaluation. As a policy, we will not prescribe stimulant medications in the first three visits.

    We do not prescribe alprazolam, clonazepam, lorazepam, or other benzodiazepine medications. We do not prescribe buprenorphine, methadone, or other opioid medications. We do not provide medical marijuana recommendations.

  • We do not provide emotional support animal letters.

  • We do not fill out disability forms for clients new to our practice. For clients who are well-established and attend their appointments regularly, your psychiatrist may fill out disability forms at their discretion and on a case-by-case basis. Your psychiatrist will ask that you schedule an additional appointment in order to discuss the form.

  • Our initial appointment together is considered to be a consultation. Scheduling the initial appointment does not mean the practice, or your psychiatrist, has agreed to treat you. During the initial consultation, you and the psychiatrist will decide together if you wish to enter a doctor-patient relationship. However, it may also take more than one appointment to make this decision. After the initial consultation appointment, you or your psychiatrist can still decide not to continue together .

    Your psychiatrist will not prescribe medications until you have established a doctor-patient relationship.

  • We accept cancellations up to 48 business hours before your appointment. After that, you will be charged the full fee for your appointment.

  • Please contact us with a detailed message. We will return your message within 3 business days.

    Medication refills may take up to 3 business days to be processed. Please plan accordingly and contact us ahead of time to ensure sufficient supply.
